Category Archives: Beaches

#1: Stanley Park

Yes, it’s the best park in the city. No, nothing comes close. If anything, Vancouverites take it for granted.

#3: Jericho Beach

What matters most for a great park: is it iconic views? Activities for people to do? A sense of place and history?

Jericho has all of that at more.

#4: Fraser River Park

Vancouver has plenty of waterfront parks, it has plenty of beaches, it has plenty of off-leash dog areas, it has plenty of quieter nature parks, and it has plenty of places where it pays tribute to its past. Nowhere do all those elements come together like Fraser River Park.

#5: Kits Beach

It’s beautiful and where the beautiful people go, the place see the views and see the people, and easily the most packed beach in the city on a warm summer day.

#9: Spanish Banks

You can have Science World, Stanley Park, or the seawall all you want — there may not be a more enticing view in Vancouver than Spanish Banks at low tide.

#10: Sunset Beach

It doesn’t have the tourist attention of English, the summer crowds of Kits, the pure beach vibes of Spanish Banks. And it doesn’t matter — Sunset is great.

#13: New Brighton Park

And in many ways, all of New Brighton is East Vancouver’s version of Kits Beach: less busy, less celebrated, slightly grittier but nearly as beloved.

#20: English Bay Beach

It’s so populated by tourists, and so beloved by people in the West End, that there’s always a vibrant energy to it — a great historic beach with atmosphere galore. It’s also, objectively, the least essential of all Vancouver’s major beaches.

#37: Hadden Park

What makes Hadden special? Chiefly, it’s the amount of interesting things packed into a relatively small area.

#46: Locarno Park

Locarno has lots of value, even if it ends up being less than the sum of its parts.
